Shannon joined IYF in May 2016 as the Program Manager for a U.S. initiative designed to strengthen efforts to meet the needs of America’s 5.5 million youth who are not in school or work through learning from proven practices in other countries. Shannon brings to IYF a passion and more than 10 years of diverse experience working to advance equity and social change, both domestically and internationally. Most recently, she managed youth, dislocated worker, and adult workforce development initiatives in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Prior to that she worked with Campaign Consultation, Inc., where she developed communications and training solutions for clients such as the Corporation for National and Community Service and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Offices of Minority Health. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guyana where she worked with the French and Guyana Red Cross Societies to help 15 villages improve their water and sanitation infrastructure and develop country-wide interventions and curriculum to improve hygiene and overall community health. She also co-founded a primary school. Shannon holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History and International Affairs from the University of New Hampshire and a Graduate Certificate in non-profit Management and Leadership from the University of Missouri.
