Maheen joined IYF in 2017 as Program Coordinator for YouthActionNet. Before coming to IYF, she spent nearly five years with the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), where she helped to expand AILA’s practice management and ethics resources. Maheen also served as a contributing editor of the AILA Marketplace Study, a comprehensive report on the economics of immigration practices, as well as an author and editor of the AILA Report on the Future of Immigration Law Practice. Additionally, Maheen was part of the development, organization, and management team for the CARA Pro Bono Project, which serves mothers and children detained at the southern United States border. More recently, she coordinated AILA’s Citizenship Day, nationwide event offering assistance to U.S. permanent residents seeking to become naturalized citizens. Maheen has worked and volunteered in Indonesia, Thailand, and Laos and is a graduate of Towson University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Legal Studies and minored in Political Science.
