Launched in 2013, Rutas enabled Mexico’s young people to successfully transition from school to the workforce. Supported by USAID, the four-year initiative helped to close the talent gap in the border states of Nuevo Leon and Chihuahua. Through Rutas, we reformed the technical upper secondary education system to be more in line with the needs of employers in key growth sectors, such as the aerospace industry. Drawing on our decades of regional alliance-building, we worked with local partners who have strong ties to the business and NGO community. By delivering relevant, market-informed curricula, our flagship Passport to Success® life skills program, promoting internships, improving career guidance and job placement services, and creating a youth-friendly job search portal, we helped give youth a clear path to jobs and a brighter future.
