Where We Work: Tanzania
Our work in Tanzania has spanned themes and sectors since we started there in 2000, but our commitment has remained the same: we’re supporting youth educational, economic, and social inclusion and empowerment.
We’ve helped young Tanzanians living with HIV make healthier choices and access services, enabled teachers across the country to do their jobs more effectively, improved access to technology in classrooms, and helped the government establish national quality standards. In 2016, we partnered with the Mastercard Foundation to drive sustainable change in the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and entrepreneurship systems through the Via: Pathways to Work initiative. As part of Tanzanian Youth Scholars, we connected orphans and vulnerable children with scholarships and job training in the technical vocational education and training (TVET) system. Working with international and local partners, we’ve supported initiatives that have changed more than 120,000 lives in the country.
