Where We Work: Philippines

We started working in the Philippines more than a decade ago.

We prepared young people here with market-relevant training and health education, developed local NGO capacity for long-term sustainability and success, and contributed original research and reports. Our major initiative here, Education Livelihoods Skills Alliance (ELSA), provided 30,000 out-of-school youth access to basic education and livelihood skills training. Bridgeit, launched in the Philippines as text2teach, used technology to boost student achievement and teacher effectiveness, and Planning for Life helped local organizations reach more youth more effectively with reproductive health and family planning information. In the Philippines, young social entrepreneurs like Anna have found a community of change-makers through the YouthActionNet® Laureate Global Fellowship. The country is also one of the 30 countries studied in the Global Youth Wellbeing Index.
