Where We Work: Nicaragua
Here in Nicaragua, we’ve helped connect youth who are considered harder to hire with the skills to succeed in the jobs employers are looking to fill.
As part of our entra21 initiative, more than half of the youth served by one of our local partners had previously dropped out of school or been involved in local gangs. Thanks to our partnerships and the training these participants received, employers overcame their reluctance to hire these youth from high-crime neighborhoods and reported satisfaction with their performance. For youth looking to create their own opportunities, another local partner provided training and loans to youth-run businesses.
