Wanted: Dynamic Young Leaders of Social ChangeRead All Posts
“Transformative.” “Humbling.” “A once in a lifetime opportunity.” These are just a few of the reflections shared by Laureate Global Fellows in describing their experience. Supported by Laureate International Universities and offered each year through IYF’s YouthActionNet® program, the Fellowship provides 20 extraordinary young social entrepreneurs with a robust, yearlong learning and networking experience.
Past recipients have pioneered solutions to urgent societal challenges—developing open access mobile applications to support patient care in South Africa, providing clean energy solutions to improve the lives of urban slum dwellers in India, and empowering communities to preserve coastal ecosystems in Costa Rica.
Now celebrating its 15th anniversary, YouthActionNet seeks to create the world’s largest network of young social entrepreneurs collectively achieving the greatest impact. Through the Laureate Fellowship and 20 youth leadership institutes around the globe, YouthActionNet comprises more than 1,100 young change-makers in 89 countries.
The Fellowship is open to founders/CEOs of social ventures, ages 18 to 29. Applicants must be proficient in English and have founded or co-founded projects or organizations with at least one year of demonstrated social impact. This can include leading a new project within an existing organization. The one-of-a-kind experience includes:
- A seven-day intensive leadership training and retreat in Washington, DC
- A yearlong set of activities, including coaching/mentoring, advocacy, and networking opportunities
- Access to a global network of 1,100+ change-makers worldwide
Selected fellows benefit from continuing education opportunities and support offered to alumni throughout their social change careers.

From design thinking to program planning to personal growth, the sessions afforded us experiential learning opportunities—allowing us not only to be creative and innovative, but to see how our learning applies to real life."
