Joanna joined IYF in 2012 to work for the Latin America and the Caribbean team on youth employability programs. Joanna has worked as an educator with underprivileged youth in Philadelphia and in that capacity organized their first ever service learning project overseas (Costa Rica). As an intern for the FAO in Rome, she helped analyze the capacity building needs of the gender, equity and rural employment team and coordinated with other UN agencies in the development of factsheets on child labor. More recently she worked in Chile with a consulting firm and later as a fellow with UNESCO on education reform issues. Joanna holds a Bachelor in Political Science and earned her Master’s Degree in Education Development from the University of Pennsylvania. She speaks Spanish and Italian and has lived and worked in Spain, Italy, Costa Rica and Chile.
