What Works In Education Reform: Putting Young People at the Center
By:  Joel Tolman with Patrice Ford and Merita Irby
Foreword by Rick Little
Innovative Learning

This report asks some critical questions about the challenges facing those engaged in the field of education around the globe. How can we apply the best of current research and wisdom in better meeting the educational needs of today's young people? Under what circunstances do young people learn best? Who needs to be involved? How do we most effectively reach out-of-school youth?

Seeking answers to these questions, the authors explore how to best rebuild, recreate, renew, reinvest, and reorder the systems and institutions tasked with helping children and young people learn. Highlighting diverse experiences, with case studies drawn from the work of IYF's Partner organizations, the report looks at such issues as lifelong learning, teacher training, the impact of information and communication technology on learning, and the role of NGOs -- and young people themselves -- in education reform efforts.
