Chile The Asociación Chilena pro Naciones Unidas (ACHNU) was created in 1991 as a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the rights of children and youth. Affiliated with the World Federation of United Nations Associations, ACHNU has consultation status within the United Nations system, and is a formal representative before the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. ACHNU helps young people to realize their fullest potential by actively engaging them in places they consider their own – in their schools and communities. The organization’s objectives are to contribute to the holistic development of children and youth by working through government and community programs that promote education, culture, training, and the protection of human rights. In this capacity, ACHNU advocates for institutional and legal reforms that would improve the quality of life of children and youth and acknowledge them as individuals with full rights.
