IDMAJ program

Working in close cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Algiers, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and stakeholders from the Algerian public, private, and civil society sectors, IYF is implementing the three-year IDMAJ to expand opportunities among Algerian youth in the areas of employability, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement.

During recent years, the Government of Algeria has developed a number of promising initiatives to build upon the vast potential of Algerian youth to contribute to the social and economic development of their country. IYF plans to build on these initiatives to provide increased opportunities for youth to access more complete government programs and services, and better prepare these services to interact with youth in a positive manner.

IYF will pilot the program implementation in the wilaya (region) of Annaba, and will then scale activities up to reach three other wilayas. The program will also enable the government to further extend the approach across the country.

  • Youth in four regions across Algeria will benefit from positive youth development activities in the areas of employability, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement.
  • Government institutions will benefit from capacity building to better respond to youth needs.
  • Government employees will be able to communicate better with disadvantaged youth, thus improving youth attitudes towards government service providers.
