Starbucks™ Shared Planet™ Youth Action Grants

A key component of the Starbucks™ Shared Planet™ commitment to communities, the Youth Action Grants program supports young people in creating positive solutions for the needs they see in their communities. Through the program, young leaders who have completed IYF’s YouthActionNet® program apply annually for grants to support their social change work. A committee comprised of IYF staff and Starbucks partners (employees) select the final grant recipients. The grants, ranging from US$5,000-$10,000, have been used to empower teenage survivors of abuse in Sri Lanka, teach urban gardening techniques to low-income residents of Mexico City, raise awareness of pharmaceutical fraud in Ghana, and more.

  • Approximately 20 youth-led projects annually will receive support to strengthen and expand the impact of their social change work. Since 2008, 65 youth-led social innovations in 26 countries have received grants.
