Colin Hagans

Program Manager, Southern Africa

Colin joined IYF in 2012 with eight years development experience, particularly in Southern Africa. Colin previously worked with the Aga Khan Foundation, including for three years with their office in Mozambique, where he managed grants, provided project oversight and contributed to strategic and business development for a diverse range of sectors. More recently, Colin conducted research in Nairobi with UN-HABITAT on spatial planning and informal sector livelihoods, and in Maputo with University College London on livelihoods-based climate change resiliency planning. Colin has a particular interest in exploring how the informal sector can be leveraged to increase access to decent livelihoods, including for youth. Colin holds a BS in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Cape Town, and a MSc in Urban Development Planning from University College London, and has additional training in pro-poor market development. Self-taught to an intermediate level of Portuguese, he continues to study the language.
