
Coordinator, Business Development
PURPOSE
Provide support for IYF’s business development activities, including public and private sector business development as well as individual giving.
SUMMARY
The International Youth Foundation (IYF), a global nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives and conditions of young people worldwide, is seeking a Business Development Coordinator to support its public and private sector business development activities, as well as its individual giving campaigns. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, self-starter with a commitment to global youth development. This full-time position will be based in Baltimore, MD. RESPONSIBILITIES
Public and Private Sector Business Development
- Assist with the coordination and organization of proposal development, including outlines, calendars, document trackers, and partner instruction packets.
- Monitor and track potential funding opportunities and maintain record of the organization’s resource development. Draft relevant documents and presentations (e.g., pipeline and narrative Business Development report) for use by Senior Management Team and Board of Directors.
- Support development and writing of letters of inquiry, concept papers, and proposals, including background statements; capacity statements; past performance; staffing plans and resumes; other supporting technical and cost documents (e.g., organizational charts and certifications and representations).
- In coordination with Human Resources and other Business Development staff, support proposal recruitment, including drafting and posting job descriptions; screening and short-listing applicants; scheduling interviews; collecting requisite application documents and checking for accuracy; formatting and developing resumes for submission with proposals; and, managing communication with applicants throughout the process.
Individual Giving
- Process all incoming checks made to IYF and draft acknowledgement letters for all donor receipts. Responsible for entering all gift reporting into donor tracking database.
- Conduct basic research and prepare letters, mailings and other communications for prospects and donors.
- Prepare report for board book on individual giving from previous quarter.
Overall Team Support
- Responsible for BD special projects and events (e.g., donor meetings, staff workshops, conferences) and prepare related material (e.g., meeting minutes, briefing papers, presentations, reports, mailings).Enter data in the contact management system.
- Provide administrative support to the Executive Vice President and Vice President for Business Development, including coordinating and scheduling appointments, coordinating travel arrangements, preparing expense reimbursements, preparing correspondence, maintaining contacts lists, and organizing BD files and records.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to IYF’s mission and programs (Social Science, Economics, International Relations, Public Policy) plus 1-3 years of work experience in the field of international development and/or business development preferred.
- Knowledge of, or experience with, programs that support youth employment, education/training, and/or social services preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and required. Proficiency in a second language highly desirable.
- Ability to identify and establish priorities, work independently, and exercise sound judgment related to providing support and assistance.
- Ability to identify problems in a timely manner, make recommendations toward solving problems, and work well in group problem solving situations.
- Ability to work in a dynamic team, as well as an ability to carry out tasks independently. Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills are required. Thorough knowledge and experience in building office systems, filing systems, and general office procedures preferred.
- Possess outstanding interpersonal communication skills which must be effective and courteous, requiring high integrity when dealing with a broad array of cultures and languages
- Proficient in the use of the full Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
