in Latin American Festival for Children and Youth Cinema
¡Camara! Ahi nos vemos, a highly successful project that teaches young people in Mexico how to create their own videos while learning about their communities, continues to gain national and international attention. We are proud to announce that one of the program’s participants, Itzel Pereda Barrios, 15, has just won 1st place in the youth category at the 1st Latin American Festival for Children and Youth Cinema. In this heart-wrenching film, entitled “Ellos no viven, sobreviven” (They don’t live, they survive), Itzel portrays the life of street children with testimonies from the children themselves as well as the professionals who work with them. Camara was launched in 2000 by the International Youth Foundation and Nokia, and is supported by IYF partner in Mexico Rostros y Voces. The Festival was organized by Save the Children Mexico and Cinepolis.
