SUMMARY
Coordinate services for and manage activities of a dynamic global NGO network made up of over 150 youth-serving organizations. Also manage special program initiatives of the Program Unit in such areas as monitoring and evaluation, development of intellectual property and promotion of an organization-wide learning agenda.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Global Partner Network
    1. Coordinate the development and facilitate the implementation of a Network work-plan.
    2. Coordinate the design and implementation of key Network activities, including the development of a virtual learning community, delivery of capacity building trainings/workshops, access to outreach and advocacy, and organization of a global partner meeting.
    3. Lead the creation of a Partner Advisory Group, with representatives from the Partner Network. Support and consult with the Partner Advisory Group on key Network activities, including in the development of work plans.
    4. Oversee and implement the newly identified selection process for membership, including instituting a process for accepting new members, updating current vetting process for partners, developing a template for partnership agreements and reviewing current membership status of partners.
    5. Work in collaboration with IYF program managers in order to build and maintain strong relationships with partners of the Network.
    6. Develop internal mechanisms to collaborate with IYF centers and staff around Network partnership issues and activities.
    7. Collaborate with IYF Senior Management Team on strategic growth plan of Network li>Prepare a budget for the Network and explore funding opportunities in collaboration with IYF’s Business Development Department (BDD) for Network management and activities.
  2. Program Unit
    1. Develop an annual work-plan of priority activities for the Program Unit in consultation with the EVP, Centers and BDD.
    2. Provide leadership and management support to special initiatives undertaken by the Program Unit which involve organizing work groups across the centers and departments, identifying goals and ensuring that timelines are met.
    3. Strengthen the learning agenda of IYF by leading the internal process that will create a conducive learning environment and will ensure that time and space is created for learning and innovation.
    4. In conjunction with the Centers and other departments, lead a semi-annual trend identification process that will identify key strategic issues for IYF and its work in youth development, public-private partnerships, corporate social responsibility and other areas critical to IYF’s business model and success.

Problem Solving – Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, demonstrates creativity and flexibility in addressing problems, works well in group problem-solving situations.

Project Management – Demonstrated strong project management, planning and budgeting skills.

Technical Skills – Understanding and appreciation of youth development issues; expertise cultivating and growing relationships with NGOs; experience working across cultures and in the developing world.

Communications – excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required. Must be clear and courteous, especially in dealing with diverse culture and languages; and must be able to communicate all levels of the organization as well as network partners.

Managing people – takes responsibility for staff’s activities, makes self available to staff, provides regular performance feedback, develops staff’s skills and encourages growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree required.

5-8 years work experience in the international development field, with a particular focus on managing or working with regional/global networks.

Experience organizing network events, trainings, global meetings and on-line communities.

Advanced supervisory and project management, planning and budgeting skills are required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. Ability to conduct business conversation in a second language is required.

Ability to travel internationally as needed.

Excellent time management, organizational, and computer software skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
