Philanthropy in the State of Oaxaca

Some types of philanthropy that are to be found in the state are geared to supporting development programs, though on a smaller scale than in the Federal District. Examples include the following:

  • The organization Gente Nueva provides three types of support: low-cost daily rations for communities that carry out non-remunerated social works (el tequio), small individual loans for women organized in groups, and larger loans for microentrepreneurs. Gente Nueva receives donations from a U.S. foundation and from some Mexican companies. It is inspired by the framework developed by the U.S. foundation FINCA.
  • ANADEGES Sur PacĂ­fico provides low-interest and streamlined loans to small groups of producers in Oaxaca and Chiapas. The organization works in a highly flexible
