System for Integral Family Development (DIF)

The DIF for Oaxaca plays a special role coordinating the State Children's Program, which was agreed upon in the framework of the World Summit, through the chairmanship of the Special Subcommittee for Children established in 1993 in COPLADE.

The DIF has programs in four areas, two of which are relevant to the youth population:

  • Services for the disabled community formally have been in place since the current administration came into office, and it has undertaken information and publicity campaigns using regional modules to reach the target population, which has been almost unknown to date. Further, infrastructure improvements have been made and the capability to provide medical care to this population has been bolstered. At the Child Development Centers, which house children in difficult situations until they are 11 years old, new animation and educational activities were carried out.

  • Support for urban and peripheral urban families includes providing services to children and adolescents in particularly difficult situations, including minors who have broken the law, adolescent mothers, single mothers, and street children. Several campaigns and activities have been carried out for this purpose, especially in urban areas.
