Business Development Coordinator

 

PURPOSE

Assist with and coordinate activities within the Business Development Department.

 

SUPERVISOR

Vice-President, Public Sector Business Development

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the coordination of proposals; background research for proposals; outline and calendar; development of proposal components; and preparation of compliance items and certifications.
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations and reports to potential and current donors.
  • Utilize online and other resources to conduct research on potential donors and prepare written documents as required.
  • Support BD staff in working with program staff to develop concept notes, letters of inquiry, full proposals requesting funding
  • Responsible for BD special projects and events (e.g., donor meetings, staff workshops, conferences) and prepare related material (e.g., meeting minutes, briefing papers, presentations, reports, mailings).
  • Maintain the tracking system for BD performance and prepare relevant documents and presentations for use by Senior Management Team and Board of Directors.
  • Maintain record of resource development and track activities throughout the organization.
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Vice President and Vice President for Business Development, including coordinating and scheduling appointments, coordinating travel arrangements, preparing expense reimbursements, preparing correspondence and organizing contacts lists.
  • Enter data in the Raiser’s Edge contact management system.
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with all aspects of BD, as well as knowledge of all IYF internal procedures and policies (e.g., expense reports, contracts); organize and ensure the security of BD files and records.
  • Responsible for other specific BD activities as assigned by VP/BD and other BD staff.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of experience.
  • Ability to make judgments, assume responsibility, and work independently with minimal direction is essential.
  • Analytical ability to identify and establish priorities, and attend to all details in a professional manner is required.
  • Initiative, creativity, reliability, flexibility, thoroughness and accuracy are critical.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Communications skills must be effective and courteous, requiring high integrity when dealing with a broad array of cultures and languages.
  • Oral and written English fluency is required, assuring good quality spelling, grammar and punctuation. Oral and written fluency in a second language is preferred.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and computer software skills including Microsoft Word, Excel Access and PowerPoint.
